  T+ 2:00 0.5 g oral Amanitas - A. muscaria (dried)
BODY WEIGHT: 205 lb
I am experimenting with taking amanitas at a very low dose daily as a mood enhancer. I've seen it referenced a few times in the literature and had it recommended to me by the guy who did my ibogaine treatment in Costa Rica. I've been trying it the past few days and I must say it's quite great. I'm curious if there are any side effects, but I haven't seen any yet and it's almost too good to be true!

Everything I read told me to tread lightly, start slow, and get a feel for how your body processes and interacts with amanitas. I'd echo that.

Day 1
I started with a half gram of dried caps. I tore it up into a bunch of pill size pieces and swallowed them whole - I hate the taste of dried shrooms of any kind. This is a very low dose and not in any way enough to induce a psychedelic state. I started feeling a very warm energy all over my body after about an hour. I just felt a little happier and relaxed, but not intoxicated at all. I threw on my headphones, and with a little Family Hour in my ears I went on a bike ride. Everything was just a little brighter and I felt vibrant.

After about two hours I felt safe that I wasn't gonna get unexpectedly blasted, I took another half gram dose. Same deal, it just extended my elevated mood. I was experimenting with my wife and after the second half gram we were both noticeably more chatty with each other - smiling and having good-natured interactions. But in no way was it a feeling of intoxication - I can and did interact with the outside world just fine, great even.

Day 2
I slightly upped my initial dose to about .7 or .8 grams to start with and then took a another half gram dose about 90 min in. Not too much of a difference in effect that I could notice - the same awesome vibrant, happy, light feeling. It's a weird mix in that it has a light sedative and light stimulative effect, in my experience.

Day 3
I took 1.5 grams to start with - still a light dose. I felt like I was onto something. Great equilibrium and balance.

I'm absolutely convinced of the medicinal power of this fungus - and I'm a skeptic in the good sense of the word: extraordinary evidence for extraordinary claims. I've often been let down by herbal supplements whose promises and results didn't match up. Not the case with amanitas.

My plan is to keep slightly upping the dose until I'm starting with about 2 to 2.5 grams, but that's just to see what the difference in feeling is. Based on my experience I think anywhere from a half gram to 1.5 grams daily would be great as a supplement. If not daily, it'd be great as a mood enhancer for social situations or just kicking it around the house. I read that many cultures have used it this way, as a tonic, in addition to the shamanic purposes at higher doses. I read that it enhances the effects of alcohol and I can also attest to this - in a good way. I enjoyed a couple glasses of wine in the evening after taking the amanitas and it was quite nice.

I'm going out today to pick up empty gel caps from the health food store. I'm going to grind the dried amanitas up and cap into half gram and one gram doses. I hope this information is helpful! Peace.
